Help with RSA Test

Most questions are answered below. For anything else, email contact@stacksy.com.au and a person will reply, usually within a working day.

New to the test? Read how to run the test first. It is also in the app, on the home screen.

Linking the two devices

The finish device hosts, the start device joins. Turn on Personal Hotspot on the finish device before opening the app, and join the start device to that hotspot in Wi-Fi settings. Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network also works. The status line under the camera says Linked and shows the clock agreement once they have found each other; Gates set stays disabled until the link is healthy.

If they never link, check the start device really is on the hotspot (its Wi-Fi name is the finish device's name), and that Local Network access is allowed for RSA Test in Settings on both devices.

A gate does not fire

  • The cyan band must cover the umpire's torso as they cross. Stand on the line and adjust the sliders, then tap relearn with nobody in view.
  • The device must be still. Handheld will not work; a tripod or a bag on a bench will.
  • The camera needs contrast between the umpire and what is behind them. Dark kit on a light background, or the reverse, helps.
  • The finish gate only arms after the start gate fires, and the start gate only arms after Gates set. That is deliberate, so a walk back never counts.

A gate fires when it should not

Someone walking through the line, or close behind it, can trigger a gate. Void the sprint and run it again. Keep the far side of each line clear during a sprint.

Calibration

Different devices stamp their camera frames with slightly different delays, typically a few milliseconds. Calibrate once per pair: both on one line facing the same way, Calibrate on the finish device, walk through five or more times, Apply. The correction is shown on the setup screen and on the results sheet. Run it again if you change devices, or if one device changes frame rate.

Results and evidence

The Results screen shows the verdict, every sprint, the stills, and makes the PDF results sheet. Share session folder sends everything: the sheet, the stills and the data file. Past tests are under Past tests on the home screen; swipe to delete.

Requirements

  • Two iPhones or iPads running iOS 17 or later, with cameras. Recent models run the camera at 240 frames per second; older ones run slower and are a little less precise.
  • Two tripods or stands, and a 40 m course with clearly marked lines.

Nothing leaves your devices. Read the privacy policy.
